Lunatics Never Unite - Lesson From Thoughts To Build On

By M. R. Kopmeyer - paraphrased

If someone came to us today screaming, “Lunatics!” we will most likely look at them and think that lunatic is them, not us. Wait a moment....

Years ago, before improvements were made in mental hospitals, a visitor was escorted through a mental hospital by the superintendent. He finally was taken to a balcony overlooking a ward where the most dangerous “lunatics” were kept. One hundred violently dangerous lunatics, watched over by only 3 guards!

The visitor was aghast. He turned to the superintended and asked, “Aren’t you afraid that those dangerous lunatics will gang up on the guards?” The superintended calmly replied, “No, lunatics never unite.”

There is a lesson in that statement that evidently, most of us haven’t learned – or just assume. We have often overlooked wisdom that has come ringing down through the years:
                “In union there is strength!”
“United we stand; divided we fall!”

The secret of power is no secret. It simply is uniting – joining together with a singleness of thought, feeling and purpose. The more people who can unite, the more groups which can be joined together, the more nations which can collaborate – the greater will be their combined power.

How much weakness there is in disunity!
And, how much danger! Because the further apart our positions, the more nearly they become opposites. When we reach opposite positions, we are placed in readiness for the most damaging collision course.

Lunatics!

Yes, Lunatics! That is what our divisiveness is proving us to be. Because: LUNATICS NEVER UNITE!
