The Ant Philosophy

Whenever I go out with my dearest friend, she has always been surprised by my fascination of ants. Yes, ants fascinate me a big deal and it’s not just because of the way they look. Well, I think they are really beautiful creatures but what I like most about them is the four-part philosophy that seems to guide their lives.

The first part of the ant philosophy is: Ants Never Quit. Wow, I really, really love that. Ever tried stopping an army of ants headed in a certain direction? They will climb over, go around or even climb under anything that obstructs their way. You can never stop them; they will always find another way to where they were going!

Second part of the ant philosophy: now this is important! Ants think winter all summer. With all due respect to the human race (well, I’m part of it), this is where ant’s wisdom beats ours. While ants save up food for the winter right at the middle of summer, those of our honorable race enjoy the summer sun on the beach completely oblivious of the fact that losing a job can be a fact of our lives. Huh, and it’s not just losing a job; how many of those “winter conditions” can you count? Am not gonna say anything more on that.

The third part of the ant philosophy is, ants think summer all winter. Come on, read that again! Yes, when its winter, ants are deep down in the earth thinking “it’s gonna be summer soon…” And sure, on the first day of summer, they are out enjoying the warmth of the day. Keep thinking summer while we move on to the last part of the ant philosophy…

The all-I-possibly-can philosophy: ask ant during the summer, “Ant, how much are you going to gather this summer?” Ant will promptly answer, “All I possibly can.” Wow, what a philosophy!
